Tea Recipe: LiberTEA Slush

With Independence Day weekend nearly upon us, it is time to think about what we’re going to drink. Iced tea, of course! But when you really want to see fireworks – perhaps something a little more …adult? And what better way to celebrate the independence than with the classic American spirit, bourbon! I really like Bulleit bourbon, but you are at liberty to freely choose your favourite!

How to Make Tea Recipe to Make LiberTEA Slush | Tea Recipe

  • 1 cup Aussie Breakfast black tea, cold-brewed
  • 1 cup bourbon
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups orange juice (you’ll need about 3 oranges)
  • 6 tablespoons lemon juice (about 2 lemons)
  • 5 cups ice cubes
  • Mint sprigs, for garnish

To create punch base, pour tea into a pitcher with bourbon, sugar, orange juice and lemon juice and refrigerate until needed.

To serve: Stir punch base to ensure all elements are evenly distributed. Add base and full amount of ice cubes to your blender, blending until the ice is crushed and slushy. For each individual glass of punch, place 1/2 cup slushy punch base and slightly heaped 1/2 cup ice and blend until the ice is broken down completely. Garnish glass with a sprig of mint.

Happy Holiday to Americans!
