I have now purchased three of these teapots from Tavalon.
The first was a Mother’s Day present for my wife. She drinks herbal tea, and I wanted a separate teapot so the flavours and caffeine from my tea were not carrying over into hers. I was genuinely impressed with it. It was easy to use, easy to take apart, easy to clean, and easy to put back together. I liked it so much that I asked for one for my 50th birthday.
Unfortunately, mine broke after less than 20 days of normal use. I was quite disappointed, especially because I really do love the teapot itself. I contacted Tavalon expecting that, given how new it was and how the breakage occurred, they would simply replace it. Instead, the response was essentially no. After I followed up, they offered a 30% discount on another purchase.
The money is not the issue. I had already immediately ordered another teapot for my wife because I felt bad using her Mother’s Day present after mine broke. The issue is that I feel I was sold a faulty product and then treated as though I had an old teapot or had been rough with it.

This is a great product when it works, which is why I have bought it repeatedly. But the customer service response to what appeared to be a faulty item was very disappointing. I am leaving another two-star review not because the teapot itself is bad, but because Tavalon’s handling of the issue was poor.
I was initially very happy with this teapot and used it regularly. Unfortunately, the glass suddenly shattered during normal use while I was tapping the strainer to remove used tea leaves. The teapot had never been dropped or otherwise damaged.
What disappointed me most was the response when I contacted customer service. Rather than offering a replacement or refund, I was told that because the teapot had been used, their policy prevented them from assisting. After I raised Australian Consumer Law, the only resolution offered was a 30% discount on a future purchase.
I understand that glass can break, but I would expect a premium teapot to withstand ordinary use, and I would also expect a more customer-focused approach when a product fails unexpectedly.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this product or the after-sales support. The attached photo shows the breakage.
Not a bad Green Tea at all. A light green tasting tea. Doesnt have that slight fishy taste some low grade teas have. solid 4 out of 5. arrived very quick and well packed. Few bucks more and can come in a handy tin
A nice black tea. I like it a lot. Kind of a malty and peppery taste to it. Fairly Strong. A few bucks more and can come in a handy solid tin. Arrived very quickly. Well packed. Give this tea a solid 4.5 out of 5.
I dont mind this tea at all. It doesnt have the crisp fresh taste organic Jasmine has. but the price is a lot easier to swallow. Got to love how can buy it in all different sizes! Arrived fast and well packed. The tin is super handy too and only few bucks more. 4.5 out of 5.
